I was diagnosed with Colitis about 14 years ago. When the doctor told me (after a scope) that I had Colitis, I didn’t actually know what it was.
Anyway, I followed doctors prescriptions (many types) and instructions (and got worse each month) until I was so sick I could barely walk and had lost 60 pounds. I had bloody diarrhea 12 to 18 times a day, lost a lot of my hair, fingernails, self respect and if I hadn’t owned part of the company I would have been unemployed.
Looking for some other option I found (on-line) the SCD diet. This is a very, very restrictive diet which limits everything you eat. No milk, coffee, flour, sugar, prepackaged anything and everything else that really makes eating fun. It did work for me, I recovered and followed the diet for 2 years as suggested. This is not easy and most people can’t follow the diet that long. After 2 years on the diet you are supposed to be able to go back to a normal diet. I tried and after about a month I was sick again.
I have been sick off and on again, depending on how well I controlled my flour and sugar and have experimented with some new meds from my current doctor. I continued this way for the last 8 years. About 2 years ago I read an interesting article about how Aloe could help with all types of inflammation, sounded wonderful. That is the main thing about colitis, really bad inflammation of the colon. In about 2 weeks of regular Aloe pills from the drugstore seemed to really help. Enough that I really started to search the Internet for more information about more concentrated Aloe and found super concentrated Aloe in AMP. I read information on many sites and finally decided to try AMP from aloe-lu-yah.com, Within a month symptons were gone. I talked to my doctor about using Aloe while it seemed to be healing me and he said "we’ll see when you have your colonoscopy next spring". I continued to use AMP for the rest of the year.
Well I did have that scope this spring. The doctor said he found no signs of colitis, no inflamation or any other red spots or places that were of concern. He said he thought I was so much better that we could skip my annual colonoscopy and wait 2 years for the next scope. This same doctor 2 years ago sent me to a specialist who said "your only hope of a normal life is to completely remove your colon and install a bag.
I currently eat a normal diet, including deserts, flour and all the things that gave me problems in the past. I have followed the instructions on the bottle of AMP, that’s all. I do think that white flour and sugar (which always made me sick) are not really good for anyone but can be eaten in moderation. I take the maintenance dose that works for me, 3 pills in the morning and 2 at night.
