Diabetes Type 1 is an autoimmune disease caused by the beta cells in the pancreas being slowly destroyed by the immune system. Type 1 diabetes was previously referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or juvenile-onset diabetes. Beta cells produce insulin, which is a hormone produced by the pancreas; when these cells are destroyed the blood sugar levels become extremely high because the insulin is not moving glucose (sugar) into the cells causing the sugar to run into the urine and is lost because the cells cannot utilize it; this condition is called hyperglycemia. Genetics and Conditions that damage the pancreas increase the risk for diabetes. Diabetes type 1 is most commonly diagnosed between infancy and late 30’s but can occur at any age. Men and women have an equal chance of being affected by Diabetes Type 1. Some risk factors that may contribute to the cause are being ill in early childhood, viruses, having a parent with type 1 diabetes, having an older mother, and obesity which increases insulin secretion.
Symptoms include frequent urination, extreme hunger, extreme thirst, unexplained weight loss, weakness, fatigue, irritability, nausea, inability to focus, and restlessness. Many tests may be performed to diagnose Diabetes Type 1 such as Fasting Plasma Glucose, Glucose Tolerance Test, tests for Glycated Hemoglobin, Testing for Insulin Resistance, autoantibody tests, screening for heart disease, Screening for Kidney Damage, Screening for Retinopathy, Screening for Neuropathy, and Screening for Thyroid Abnormalities. Diabetes Type 1 may lead to heart disease, nerve damage, and kidney disease. Taking aspirin on a daily basis may reduce the risk of blood clotting to help protect against heart attacks. It also may cause respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, depression, weaker bones and less bone density, and loss of hearing. If you plan on getting pregnant, please consult your physician first because existing diabetes may cause birth defects. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent diabetes type 1 at this time.
The most common treatment available at this time is insulin, there are several different forms and most must be injected once or twice a day. One of the main side effects is weight gain. Please do not decrease insulin dosages to lose weight, aerobic exercise would be a great way to help decrease body fat. Exercise will also help lower blood pressure, maintain normal cholesterol levels, and increase sensitivity to insulin. It is important to do at least one daily blood sugar test and visit your physician at least every three months. The treatment goals for a diabetes diet are improving overall health, managing the symptoms of diabetes type 1, maintaining a moderate weight, prevention from further conditions, controlling blood sugar levels, and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. There is not a specific diet that states what foods you should eat and avoid, we recommend you consult your physician or dietitian to obtain a diet that would be best for you. Constantly consuming AloeLuYah's AMP Aloe & E may stabilize blood sugar, and restore/open blood vessels, lowers high cholesterol, and also as an intracellular antioxidant cleansing out all cells.
